The Analog Discovery 2 (AD2) is now the official multi-tool of Contextual Electronics. And for the first time outside of a University setting, members of this program will have access to the educational pricing on an Analog Discovery 2 bundle of hardware.
The AD2 is a flexible piece of test equipment that includes oscilloscopes, power supplies, function generators, a spectrum analyzer, logic probes and much more! It uses cross-platform software called Waveforms 2015, which allows the user to interact with the test equipment through a graphical interface OR via a programmatic interface.

This bundle includes 3 months of a Contextual Electronics Apprentice subscription ($83) + access to buy the Analog Discovery 2 Contextual Electronics Bundle at the student discount rate ($308). For $397, you will have a compact, portable and flexible tool to probe your electronics and 3 months of access to an online curriculum that teaches you how to design, build and debug custom hardware. The CE bundle includes a breakout board for the waveform generator and 2 logic probes. The AD2 will enable you to peer “inside” your design to diagnose issues and get a hardware product working optimally.
Logistics
So why are new members required to buy a 3 month subscription? We want to make sure our students are committed to sticking with the course before they get access to the educational discount on the hardware. It’s a bit of an awkward way to charge for that first month, but we did it with the ‘Upfront fee, with a “3 month trial”‘ to preserve your account info. After the initial period, you will still have access to the course at the normal rate of $29/month. This will charge automatically but can be cancelled at any time after the promotional 3 month period.
